Ivan Anthony, Mason County 4-H member for eight years, has served as the Mason County clerk since 1976. Recognized as a model county government leader, Anthony is an active member of the Michigan Association of County Clerks (MACC) and has served that organization as secretary, vice-president and president. His legislative work earned him the MACC Clerk of the Year Award in 1989. His expertise in county management issues helped develop the Michigan Vital Statistics System and one of the first Michigan county wide voter registration systems. He served as county treasurer for five years and was manager of the Mason County Road Commission. Anthony’s significant community service is reflected not just in his 50 plus years as a Mason County 4-H volunteer. He is an appointed member of the Mason County District Library Board, serving as board vice-chairman. He also serves as a mentor and leader with the Mason County Rotary Club’s STRIVE program, a mentorship program for high school juniors falling within the bottom third of their class that offers incentives and opportunities that helps them improve their academic performance and identify their career aspirations.
