Terry Langston, executive director of the Michigan 4-H Foundation from August 2002 to December 2003, is recognized throughout Michigan and nationally as an expert on youth engagement, youth philanthropy and community service. He has served several organizations in the role of consultant and director, including the Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District and the Michigan Non-Profit Association. He served as director of the office of student development and youth outreach services, and corporate and foundation relations development officer, for Olivet College. Currently, Langston is consultant for Langston and Associates working with Minority Program Services, Inc., the Calhoun County Substance Abuse Coalition and other organizations around substance abuse prevention and fundraising efforts. Langston is an active contributor to community affairs through his affiliations with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Calhoun County Extension Council, the Michigan Democratic Party, and the Michigan Community Service Commission. He currently serves on both the the Community Action Agency of Southcentral Michigan and the Kellogg Community College Foundation board of directors. His contributions have been recognized with the Franklin Covey Leadership Award for Effectiveness, the Albion Volunteer of the Year Award and several recognition awards from 4-H Youth Development. He is chairman emeritus for Youth on Boards and a founding member of Alternatives in Motion, an organization dedicated to providing wheelchairs to low-income people with disabilities.
