“To see the youth utilize their dairy knowledge from 4-H in other ways. Either in ways that help them as they move forward on a career path or as they teach and mentor younger members in the program.”

Katelyn has been a Washtenaw County 4-H leader for two years but has been an involved leader in her 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl Team and judging program since she was a teen in 4-H. Katelyn excels at developing youth for the future and is passionate and involved with her 4-H members. She prepares and conducts hands on quiz bowl practices and volunteers as an oral reasons listener for the 4-H Dairy Judging Program. Katelyn encourages youth to get involved and even takes a group of members to MSU every year for the State 4-H Dairy Days. Additionally, she is the current adult vice president of the 4-H Dairy and Livestock committee, completing her second year as the Washtenaw County 4-H Youth Show Assistant Dairy Superintendent and has just joined the Washtenaw County 4-H Advisory Council. She is also an active member of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee and the young Farmer Committee and she is the volunteer youth director at her church.

Through 4-H I have learned so many things that can help me build my confidence. I went from feeling insecure about my disability to being able to tell other kids who have dyslexia that even if it is difficult, you shouldn\'t feel embarrassed about it. Since joining 4-H I can share my experience with dyslexia and help people understand the disability.
