The Emerald Clover Society identifies, acknowledges and celebrates individuals who have had significant 4-H involvement as a youth and who have made significant contributions to their local, state and national communities.

Membership
Membership in the Emerald Clover Society is bestowed upon former Michigan 4-H youth members with significant professional achievements and/or service to their communities and society.
Membership in this society is by nomination and review committee selection only. The selection committee includes state and county 4-H volunteers and staff members, Michigan 4-H Foundation trustees and current Emerald Clover Society members.
Selection
Nominee selection is based on evidence of three or more years of 4-H youth membership, professional and business achievement, leadership in community service and philanthropy, contributions to or impact on American society, and significant leadership and achievement as a 4-H member. Nominees must be living.
Emerald Clover Society nominations are accepted every two years. The inaugural class of the society was inducted in 2002, the national 4-H centennial year and the 50th anniversary of the Michigan 4-H Foundation. Subsequent Emerald Clover Society induction years include 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022. Recognition was not provided in 2020 due to the pandemic.
