This summer, families are invited to enjoy the magic of reading, nature and teen leadership as 4-H Stories in the Garden celebrates its 29th year at the Michigan 4-H Children’s Garden.

The Michigan 4-H Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of six new scholarship funds that will support 4-H youth across Michigan in pursuing postsecondary education.

Tom Nugent, Clarksville, was elected to the Michigan 4-H Foundation board of trustees in March 2026.

Three new Michigan 4-H Foundation memorial scholarships will support 4-H youth pursuing postsecondary education: the John Aylsworth 4-H Scholarship, Marie Wagester Memorial 4-H Scholarship Fund and the Melinda Klockziem Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Last April, the Michigan 4-H community celebrated a milestone decades in the making: the launch of the Michigan 4-H license plate. One year later, Michigan 4-H continues to celebrate the plate’s existence and the potential it holds for the program.

Grant opportunities of up to $2,000 are available from the Michigan 4-H Foundation to support local 4-H clubs and county programs for the 2026-2027 program year.

With a shared passion for youth leadership and civic engagement, former Gov. Jim Blanchard and Janet Blanchard graciously sponsored the 4-H Capitol Experience legislative reception which took place on March 17.

The Michigan 4-H Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the Michigan Pork Producers Association 4-H Endowment, established through a five-year pledge from the Michigan Pork Producers Association (MPPA).  

The Lee G. and K. Joanna Schwenk Fund for Kalamazoo County 4-H, a permanent endowment, was recently established through a charitable gift annuity from the estate of Lee G. and Katherine “Joanna” Schwenk.
