“My 4-H experience as an officer and a member of various clubs helped form my ability to supervise and interact with people over the years. The opportunity to compete and the desire to succeed in all I attempted has been one of the driving forces in my life. I have always strived to ‘make the best better.'”
David White has dedicated his life to 4-H and agriculture. He purchased his first of three farms at age 22 and has carried on the family heritage of showing livestock at the Shiawassee County Fair. White has bred and shown successful herds of dairy cattle nationally. White is also nationally known for raising dairy goats. He judges livestock shows in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio and is the goat superintendent for both his county fair and the Michigan State Fair. He has been a 4-H volunteer leader since 1960 and enjoys helping his grandchildren with their 4-H projects. White is a past board member of the Michigan Brown Swiss Association, past president of the Michigan Dairy Goat Association and past supervisor of Sciota Township. He also served on the planning committee to build the new Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education at Michigan State University.
Through 4-H I have learned so many things that can help me build my confidence. I went from feeling insecure about my disability to being able to tell other kids who have dyslexia that even if it is difficult, you shouldn\'t feel embarrassed about it. Since joining 4-H I can share my experience with dyslexia and help people understand the disability.
