The 4-H Club and all it stands for has always held a special place in my life. I plan to continue to support the 4-H Club and the youth involved in it.
Douglas C. Johnson owned and operated a commercial printing business in Gaylord for 28 years, but he is most noted for his 22 years as an Otsego County commissioner (he is the current chairman of the board). As a commissioner, Johnson has served as chairman of the personnel, finance, airport, transportation, and building and grounds committees. His public service extends to chairing the membership committee of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority and serving as a director and vice-president of the Michigan Association of Counties Workers Compensation Fund. For 15 years, he has been a member of the board of directors for First National Bank of Gaylord. Johnson has personally supported the Otsego County 4-H Youth Program and given to many youth-related charities in his community. His community service is also extended as a member of the Gaylord Elks Lodge #2544 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1895. An avid outdoorsman, Johnson is a life member of the Northland Sportsmens Club, the Michigan United Conservation Club, the National Rifle Association and the Mid-Michigan chapter of Safari International.
Becoming confident isn’t easy, but because of the positive, helpful, and encouraging people in 4-H, anything’s possible.
