Claire Rasmussen led the Dow Corning team in chemical risk management and compliance, risk communications and exposure assessment for more than 20 years. She served as global risk manager, defining health and environmental risk management methods and strategies for high-profile global issues. When not focused on global environmental risk issues, Rasmussen is contributing her time and talents as a member and president of the Midland County Educational Service Agency Board. She was actively involved in establishing of one of Michigan’s original seven charter schools and helped implement a five-year strategic plan that resulted in new special education rules, technology upgrades, addressing budget issues and establishing a new county trades training center. Rasmussen was a member of the board of directors of The ARC of Midland, serving in all officer positions. This board helped establish a peer group for citizens with disabilities, for which they received the National ARC Award. The board also created a community supported-living program that allows citizens with disabilities to live in their own homes. She was also a Midland County 4-H volunteer leader for 10 years. Rasmussen has been a boardmember and the secretary for Northwest Academy in Charlevoix, Michigan and has been a volunteer for Tip of the MITT Watershed Council in Petoskey, Michigan since 2009. In 2010 she was awarded Volunteer of the Year for her work for Tip of the MITT Watershed Council. She also enjoys being a member of the Charlevoix Community Band.
